The HP + Nb grade resists carburization, oxidation, and creep up to 1093 C (2000 F). This improvement over the HP grade, UCI-190, is due to the addition of niobium. UCI-190 has been used for many years for consistent and predictable results in high temperature applications. See Alloy Digest SS-689. The UCI-193 alloy is weldable by gas tungsten arc (GTAW), gas metal arc (GMAW), and shielded metal arc (SMAW) welding using electrodes with compositions that match the base metal (25Cr35Ni) or with NiCrCoMo-1 (AWS 5.11 and AWS 5.14). Preheat or postheat is not normally required.
